The Bend Beef, in plain words.
We are a family. We farm. We raise Black Angus on land our great-great-grandfather worked. We sell the beef directly to people who want to know where dinner came from.
A working farm — not a brand
The Bend is a 360-acre cattle farm in Holly Pond, Alabama, named for the wide curve of the Mulberry River that wraps around three sides of the property. Our family has farmed this ground since the 1800s, raising cotton, row crops, and cattle through every shift the South has been through.
Today, we run a Black Angus operation focused on doing one thing well: producing better beef, sold directly to the families and restaurants who want it.
What we believe about beef
- Local first. Calves come from Cullman County neighbors, finished on our own pasture.
- No added hormones. Cattle grow at their natural pace.
- No routine antibiotics. We treat sick animals when needed and pull them from the food line.
- Grain-finished. The marbling Alabama steakhouses look for doesn't happen by accident.
- Direct. No middlemen, no warehouse, no mystery — talk straight to the farmer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is The Bend Beef raised?
Our Black Angus cattle are raised on "The Bend," our family's 360-acre farm in Holly Pond, Alabama, surrounded on three sides by the Mulberry River. The land has been in our family since the early 1800s and producing beef under the Bend name since 1902.
Is your beef hormone-free and antibiotic-free?
Yes. We never use added hormones, growth promoters, or routine antibiotics. Our cattle graze on native Alabama pastures and finish on a quality grain blend that produces the marbling our customers expect.
How long has the Bend family been farming?
Our family has worked this land since the 1800s, and we have raised cattle on The Bend since 1902. That's seven generations of Alabama farmers, all on the same ground.
What kind of cattle do you raise?
We raise Black Angus. We start with quality calves from local Cullman County farms, grow them slowly on grass, and finish on grain to lock in the tenderness, marbling, and flavor our beef is known for.
Do you ship steaks?
